Applying the traditional genetic breeding in combination with modern breeding, NKLPCB has researched to select, rapid multiply and develop new varieties and technological processes on large areas throughout the country:
- Orange varieties (V2, BH, CT36, ...) and disease-free propagation process: Transfer seedlings to many localities and companies to propagate and develop large-scale production. Each year, supply hundreds of thousands of disease-free seedlings to the provinces of Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Hoa Binh, Thanh Hoa, Yen Bai, Lao Cai, Phu Tho, Bac Giang, Ha Giang, Quang Ninh and Hung Yen. , Dak Lak ... on an area of about 9,000 ha.
- New rice varieties: Quality and short-development of indica rice varieties, QR1, QR2 and QR14 short-development, high yield and quality rice, good pest resistance, easy to cultivate, wide adaptability have been many places. From Central Highlands, South Central Coast, North Central Coast to delta, mountainous and midland provinces in Northern Vietnam, they producing on a large area of about 10,000 ha. High-yielding and high-quality japonica rice varieties such as DS1, J02, PC26, J01, PC26, TBJ2, TBJ3, ... have been deployed very quickly on a large scale of tens of thousands of hectares in the northern mountainous provinces, Red River Delta. Such varieties are also being expanded to large production in many provinces in the Mekong Delta to serve export.
- Sugarcane varieties and quick propagation process in industrial scale: By tissue culture technology, a rapid production process has been successfully developed. Three new sugarcane varieties, named K84-200, ROC26, HB1, recognized by the MARD about their high level of productivity and sugar content. Sugarcane varieties have been bred on an industrial scale and transferred to several compaies inLam Son, Thanh Hoa, Hoa Binh, Tuyen Quang, Son La and Nghe An ...
- In addition, there are many new varieties and other quick multiplication processes such as vegetable varieties, flowers, forest plants and medicinal plants which have been transferred to large production (Tomato varieties DT28, C155; Phalaenopsis and orchid varieties, rose, Lily flower ..., avocado, seedless and crispy persimmon, cassava varieties, coconut varieties, ...).

FUNCTIONS AND TASKS
* Functions:
- Basic research on plant cells and the application of advanced cell technology methods to create new genetic materials and disease-free genetic resources for breeding and multiplication of high-yielding plant varieties productivity, high quality and resistant to adverse environmental conditions.
- Expanding international and domestic cooperation, accelerating the transfer of knowledge and technology in the field of plant cell technology from abroad into our country.
- Training high quality science human resources in the field of plant cell technology research for research institutes and universities, and training skilled experts for micro-technology Pilot and technology transfer into production practices.
- Study the rules of cell division and differentiation, cell cloning and organ differentiation as a basis for plant and tissue culture, gene transfer and micro-propagation for important economic crops.
- Study on development and application of haploid technology to create pure lines and genetic materials carrying important traits such as quality, pest resistance, adaptation to cross-pollination, have good combining ability. ... serving the selection of new breeds and hybrid superiority varieties.
- Develop technological processes and methods of modern cell-level genetic manipulation such as gene transfer, regeneration and protoplast fusion, somatic cell mutation and create polyploid forms to create new genetic material for breeding.
- Research and complete the process of cell and micro-propagation technology in semi- industrial pilot scale to create effective technologies for production.
- Creating a material facilities - technical and a model of modern scientific research, achieving advanced levels in the region and the world, combining scientific research with human resource training and international cooperation in field of plant cell technology.

Applying the traditional genetic breeding in combination with modern breeding, NKLPCB has researched to select, rapid multiply and develop new varieties and technological processes on large areas throughout the country:
- Orange varieties (V2, BH, CT36, ...) and disease-free propagation process: Transfer seedlings to many localities and companies to propagate and develop large-scale production. Each year, supply hundreds of thousands of disease-free seedlings to the provinces of Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Hoa Binh, Thanh Hoa, Yen Bai, Lao Cai, Phu Tho, Bac Giang, Ha Giang, Quang Ninh and Hung Yen. , Dak Lak ... on an area of about 9,000 ha.
- New rice varieties: Quality and short-development of indica rice varieties, QR1, QR2 and QR14 short-development, high yield and quality rice, good pest resistance, easy to cultivate, wide adaptability have been many places. From Central Highlands, South Central Coast, North Central Coast to delta, mountainous and midland provinces in Northern Vietnam, they producing on a large area of about 10,000 ha. High-yielding and high-quality japonica rice varieties such as DS1, J02, PC26, J01, PC26, TBJ2, TBJ3, ... have been deployed very quickly on a large scale of tens of thousands of hectares in the northern mountainous provinces, Red River Delta. Such varieties are also being expanded to large production in many provinces in the Mekong Delta to serve export.
- Sugarcane varieties and quick propagation process in industrial scale: By tissue culture technology, a rapid production process has been successfully developed. Three new sugarcane varieties, named K84-200, ROC26, HB1, recognized by the MARD about their high level of productivity and sugar content. Sugarcane varieties have been bred on an industrial scale and transferred to several compaies inLam Son, Thanh Hoa, Hoa Binh, Tuyen Quang, Son La and Nghe An ...
- In addition, there are many new varieties and other quick multiplication processes such as vegetable varieties, flowers, forest plants and medicinal plants which have been transferred to large production (Tomato varieties DT28, C155; Phalaenopsis and orchid varieties, rose, Lily flower ..., avocado, seedless and crispy persimmon, cassava varieties, coconut varieties, ...).
INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION
Established and operation effectively two international-linked laboratories with investment fee and excellent experts from foreign countries:
- Vietnam-France international laboratory " International Joint Laboratory on Rice Functional Genomics and Plant Biotechnology " (LMI RICE-2) with a total initial investment of 1 million U.S. dollar.
- Vietnam-CIAT-RIKEN-JAPAN international link laboratory "International Laboratory of Cassava Molecular Breeding" (ILCMB).
- Expanding cooperation relationship with science and technology powers such as: Germany, Switzerland, Japan, India, France, the United States, Korea, Australia and the Netherlands.
- Promote training and use of high quality human resources through international cooperation:
- Sent 24 officers to doctoral level training: 05 staff at RENNEN-Japan, 05 officers at ICGEB - India, 05 officers in France, 03 officers in Australia, 01 officer in Germany , 02 officers in Switzerland and 03 officers in the United States. In addition, there are 05 officers who go to master training in Korea.
- Short-term advanced training courses in foreign countries are also regularly implemented with time from 1 to 3 weeks (05 turns to the United States, 02 turns to France, 01 turns to China, 01 turns of people go to IRRI - Philippines) and 2 - 6 months (07 turns of people to the US, 02 turns to ICGEB - India, 02 turns to France) ...
- Frequently, 5-10 officers go to work abroad.
